Yes, it's 30 years since Elvis Presley "left the building" for the last time on 16th August 1977.
Elvis is still as popular as ever with new books, cds and the re-issue of his movies on dvds, along with various live TV show recordings, etc. finally coming out now on Dvd after over half a century.
Former President Clinton and the previous Prime Minister of Japan were both fans. The Prime Minister even sang a line of "Treat Me Nice" (from the movie "Jailhouse Rock" 1957) for reporters at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee USA when he visited there not long ago.
When Silvia Saint was in London in the summer of 2004, I met her at London Airport (Heathrow) and we chatted and had a snack together me before she caught her plane back to Prague, after completing a photo assigment for "Arena" magazine in London.
Silvia signed magazines, read a letter from Juhani (her No.1 Fan in Canada) and spoke to Alexander on the telephone who had called me from Russia whilst I was with Silvia at the airport. Silvia gave Alexander a big surprise by her speaking to him in Russian! Silvia also posed for pictures in the airport caféteria area.
I presented Silvia with a Double Dvd Boxed Set of the famous 1968 Elvis TV "Comeback" Show. Silvia wrote to me shortly after from Prague to say that she had enjoyed watching the show and rehearsals, etc. on the discs.
