Black & red are perfect. I'm still very impressed by the way you managed to remove text on pages 18-20. Many thanks
Concerning the catalog, Venizelos will choose between adding them as 046_161, 046_162, ... or as 046_029a, 046_041a,... Important is to add them !

Set382 - Velvet Holiday Issue 2001

I came across some low quality scans on VEF a while back, courtesy of "roberdeussen", and have decided to try to enhance them a bit.

They are from the Velvet Holiday 2001 (late Dec) issue:

VELVET2001HO.jpg

Here are the original scans:

And here are the enhanced versions:

Pixhost gallery: https://pixhost.to/gallery/dQHSc

Finally, the individual photos, some of which were really too small and blocky to get a great improvement, but I'm inlcuding them for completeness.

001002003004005
006007008009010
011012013014015

Pixhost gallery: https://pixhost.to/gallery/sb5ii

All except two of these photos are actually new to the catalogue.  The existing photos are 003 and 006, which are two of the smaller, poorer quality scans so the existing versions are better anyway.  The rest are all new images.

I'll leave it to Venizelos to decide if the quality is sufficient to warrant inclusion in the catalogue.

Good work. You're right, smaller pics are blurred and I don't know if Venizelos will add them, ... but we have many small pics in the catalog. It could be added until we find better ones... one day

Magnifico trabajo.

Sin duda, la revistas son una fuente de nuevas que parece inagotable y debes tener una gran colección almacenada.

Muchas gracias por compartirlas compañero.

Set380 - Club July 1999

From the same source as the previous post for Set382 ("roberdeussen" on VEF), some more low-quality scans that I've attempted to refresh a bit.

These come from Club July 1999 edition, which has a nice cover:

CLUB199907.webp

Here are the low-resolution, poor quality originals:

I've attempted to restore these to something more aesthetically pleasing and spliced together the double-page spreads as they would have appeared in the magzine.

Here are the basic restored pages, original size, plus the cover from the above Wonderclub photo:

page00page81page82-83page84-85page86-87
page88-89page90-91

I have also extracted the individual images and as usual removed any text and recreated the missing backgrounds obscured by overlapping photos:

000001002003004
005006007008009
010011012013014
015016

Additionally, I've used Topaz Gigapixel to enhance both the pages and individual photos, and I've also attempted to get the colour balance and contrast a little closer to the original Suze Randall 1971h set.  Some of the results are better than others.  In particular, I couldn't do anything decent with 002 because of the small size and blurry quality of the original scan, but I've included it for completeness.

Pixhost gallery: https://pixhost.to/gallery/q5BWA

Pages:

page00page81page82-83page84-85page86-87
page88-89page90-91

Photos:

000001002003004
005006007008009
010011012013014
015016

Now regarding the catalogue, all but four of these photos are new images.  The matches are:

  • 001 == set380_077 (which is another scan of the same page)
  • 009 == set380_024
  • 010 == set380_079
  • 011 == set380_031

The other 13 photos are all new to the catalogue.

Very nice. I had this set for long in poor quality. Thanks for improvement. I didn't have reference of the magazine and it appears Paul Raymond loved this set : he released some pictures same date (July 1999) in Club and MensWorld

To complete your post, here is restored back cover pages of MensWorld 1999/07 :

Set249/251 - Cheri 2001/09

My third and final installment from roberduessen's collection of low-quality scans is a set from Cheri September 2001:

CHERI200109.jpg

Here are the original scans:

You will see that this set is a composite of Sets 249 and 251 from Digital DreamGirls (DDG) sets 2134/2134A.

I have cleaned these scans up and stitched them together into what I believe to be the actual arrangement of pages, which includes a three page gatefold pull-out. I've also included the cover photo from WonderClub "as is".

page00page04-05page06-07page08-09-10page11-12-13
page14-15

As usual,  I've also extracted the individual images and removed text from the double-page photo on pages 4 & 5.  I've also flipped and mirrored the photos to match the orientation of the similar DDG 2134 image.

The cover photo(000) is actually very similar to one of the photos from the existing Twistys version of this set, so I was able to use this as a guide fill in the text areas.  Moreover, I had a bit of fun combining the two photos to make a full-size composite.  I'm fairly pleased with the result (see 000x).

000000x001002003
004005006007008
009010011012013
014015016017018
019020

I have also run the photos through Topaz to generate enlarged versions:

page00page04-05page06-07page08-09-10page11-12-13
page14-15

000000x001002003
004005006007008
009010011012013
014015016017018
019020

With regard to the catalogue, we have a few matches:

006 == set251_048 (cropped)
007 == set251_022
010 == set251_049
013 == set249_011
014 == set249_025 (cropped)
017 == set249_035
018 == set249_029 (cropped)
019 == set249_039
020 == set249_041

Note that 016 is VERY similar to a cropped version of set249_030, but is slightly different.

So these 12 photos (or 13 if you count 00x) are all new to the catalogue:

000000x001002003
004005008009011
012015016

Set022 - Leg Show March 2001

This great set has been let down badly by the lack of decent scans of Leg Show magazine from March 2001.  The only scans we had were by "riuScan Portugal", which had horrible moire patterns making it virtually impossible do anything with them.

Fortunatley, I've recently found a downloadable PDF version of this magazine on WonderClub.com for a reasonable price.  Although only 150dpi, and not entirely free of banding effects, the photos are at least something I was able to work with.

So I've done some work on them to reinstate the pages as they appeared in the magazine:

page00page58-59page60-61page62-63page64-65
page66-67

And I've cut out the individual photos, removing text and cut-outs where practical and sensible.

001002003004005
006007008009010
011012

I didn't bother attempting to remove text from the cover photo, as its the same photo as set022_010 from the RBKane set and had already been heavily modified.

I was also probably wasting my time with 008, as it is the same as set022_005, but it kept me amused and at least has a different look and feel.

Indeed all the photos are already in the catalogue in some form or other, except for the centrefold 012.  These are the matching photos:

page00 => set022_010
001 => set022_014
002 => set022_033
003 => set022_002
004 => set022_034
005 => set022_011
006 => set022_023
007 => set022_003
008 => set022_005
009 => set022_015
010 => set022_004
011 => set022_017

The centrefold photo 012 is similar to set022_027 but is slightly different, so should be added to the catalogue.

I'd also say my version of set022_033 (002) is an improvement on the existing catalogue photo.

So these two photos probably deserve to be added as upgraded and new respectively:

Well done. this RB Kane's picset is one of my favorites. And our poor old scans from Riu were really bad... Thank you very much for this upgrade.

Set032 - Club International UK, Vol 26 No. 7 (July 1997)

It's been on my to-do list for a while, but I finally got round to scanning this early set from the UK edition of Club International from July 1997.

I've done my usual splicing the pages together into the two-page spreads as they appeared in the magazine:

page00page45page46-47page48-49page50-51

I have also extracted the individual photos, removing any text.  I have also removed the censor's horrible painted-on panties on the cover photo:

000001002003004
005006007008009
010011

Finally, I have "reimagined" the cover photo to give Silvia an artificial background to make her look less out of place.   I'm not sure it's entirely convincing, but it kept me amused for a good long while!

000a

With regard to the catalogue, this magazine has been scanned many times before, so the majority are existing images. However, the cover photo is not yet included in the catalogue in  either original or edited form.

Also, if you look VERY closely, 004 and 008 are actually uncatalogued photos, although they are very similar to differently cropped versions of set032_019 and 029 respectively (from my previous scans of Velvet Jan 1998).

Here they are for comparison purposes:

004set032_019
008set032_029

Ignoring the different cropping, for 004/set032_019 the most obvious difference is the gap between her blouse and her left elbow, plus a slight difference in her position relative to the painting in the background.

For 008/set032_029 the only minescule difference is the position of the end of Silvia's right thumb!

They are both so close, it may be more sensible to label them as set032_019a and set032_029a, rather than give them new numbers.

Set054 - Best of Club Confidential #136, Aug 1998

Here's an update to this beautiful set of Silvia with Lynn Smith from Best of Club Confidential, Special Issue #136:

In this case, these are not my own scans, but they come from another PDF I have found online. This compliments my previous scans from Men's World Vol 10 Iss 6 (June 1998) earlier in this thread.

Here are the magazine pages joined together into double-page spreads as usual, plus a cleaned-up version of the cover and the contents page. The source images were rather orange in tone, so I've adjusted them to give a similar colour balance to the Men's World set:

page00page03page78-79page80-81page82-83
page84-85

I have also extracted the individual photos and removed the small amount of text from photo 001:

001002003004005
006007008009010
011012013014015
016017

Lastly, I have again spent several happy days trying to recreate the cover photo with a semi-realistic background, which I think is now reasonably convincing. I hope it was worth the effort.

page00 (before)000 (after)

Catalogue Updates

In terms of the catalogue, the cover photo (000 or page00), 006, 007, 008, 017 are entirely new.

The rest are all present in the catalogue, but are part of full-page scans and/or poor quality.  I suggest we replace the existing photos as follows:

set054_002
replaced by
001003002004

set054_003
replaced by
005

set054_004
replaced by
009

set054_005
replaced by
010011

set054_006
replaced by
012013014

set054_007
replaced by
015016

And we can add these photos as new to the catalogue in one form or the other:

Yes, that photo is intriguing.

The RScan version is missing the photos from pages 80/81, but includes that extra photo and the text on the equivqalent of my photo 001 is removed.   Otherwise it is identical to the Club Confidential version, so the photo is presumably from a slightly modified version of this set in some other Paul Raymond magazine of the time.

Set012 - Velvet July 2000

Here is an update from a PDF of Velvet July 2007 I got recently:

First the pictorial pages, spliced together as usual, plus two of the contents pages:

page003page004page100-101page102-103page104-105
page106-107page108-109

And the individual photos extracted from these spliced pages, with a bit of a tweak to the colour balance to reduce the red level a bit:

001002003004005
006007008009010
011012013014015
016017018019020
021022

In terms of the catalogue, these photos are all either higher resolution versions of existing photos, or are entirely new to the catalogue:

021 (478px)set012_027 (493px)Slightly lower res but less cropped
022 (544px)set012_025 (436px)Slightly higher res and less cropped

It's worth noting that 009, 022 and set012_025 are all slightly differently cropped versions of the same photo at different resolutions.

Nice job. I wonder if we could find other magazines sources for this set 12. It needs a general upgrade.
That's funny I only recognized Hakan with your pic 13. His face is cut or masked almost on every pictures... Not your fault of course !
