Help! Can't edit my posts!

Hello everyone! I was trying to update my links since all of them ...died while i was away, but for some reason it seems that the edit post screen is not working...furious every time i press the "submit post" button it simply refreshes the edit post screen, doesn't redirect to the thread and doesn't update it. Everything was working fine until late July, i have used the edit post utility several times.

Does anyone have the same problem? Can someone help?

P.S. I have tried this using firefox and explorer, no good with both....

As you can see above i was able to edit my post, so the problem must be a possible time limit to the edit function, after which older posts (my previous ones) cannot be updated. If that's the case only a moderator can help by changing the appropriate settings. This limit is highly inpractical and prevents threads from staying alive...

Exactly, it seems to be a time limit. But editing my older posts did not work since long (at least one or two years), so nothing changed from July on

Greetings
Bernd

Dear Tazman

Are there many postings to be updated?

If you can send me details of the items to be changed, as soon as I have some time, I will try to help.  I do not know how to change settings for editing time limits, but maybe Martin can help?

If you think I can assist you, please send me the required edits, etc.

Otherwise, perhaps you can simply re-post them and I can delete the obsolete ones.

When Martin changed the hosting site, we lost all the wallpapers for Silvia and Lea and I had to recreate the links manually one at a time. It took me several weeks to find them all and start again.

Thanks guys for your replies.
Bernd, when i made the remark about july i hadn't figured out it was a time limit problem, :P . Still the limitation is very strict since the posts seem to lock in less than a month...

Victorandss, thanks for your willingness to help. I was trying to update my links and add more (hopefully more resilient ones) as i had promised, when i found out i couldn't edit the posts. I'm definitely NOT going to bother you with that task, since i don't
know when these posts will need re-editing. Reposting is not a problem for me (all i have to do is copy -paste the old html and add the new links) but that will destroy the whole structure of a thread, even if you delete the old ones. I think the best solution
is for the time limit to change (if not be turned off) since it seems to trouble other people as well, so i 'm going to PM and wait to see what happens... Otherwise i'll have to think of an alternative solution to bypass the problem, but i'm afraid it won't be that
simple and efficient as updating the posts.

Hello Tazman, I sympathize with you--I learned just after I joined this forum that you have about 24 hours to edit your post and I'm not sure if you get an additional 24 hours for additional editing--but I think not...good luck....foxxy!

Dear Tazman

Can you point me to one of the problem postings where your links need to be edited. I would just like to see an example of the problem you found and think about what could be done.  I checked again with the available functions but I cannot see any time limit function.  May I suggest that you write to Martin to check with him about extending the time limit from 24 hours to say 7 days at least if this can be done.

I once asked Martin how to get rid of the "edit" messages that appear at the end of a posting, but apparently you cannot do this.

Vic, you can change this (hopefully it looks the same in your browser) in the admin panel > 1c Settings > User&Registration > User Post Editing: users may...

Change there from "edit their own posts within the first 24 hours" to "edit their own posts".

Greetings
Bernd

Sent a PM to martiner... i hope he reads it... not in the very distant future. Meanwhile, if someone else knows him personally or has regular contact with him please inform him about this issue whenever you can. Thanks!

I did not send an e-mail to martiner two weeks ago because I thought that someone of the mods would do it. But finally I did it myself yesterday, and martiner made the necessary changes already this morning. I just did a check and edited my own 2 year old posting without problem (apart from the usual problem with the preview window).

So a big thank you to martiner!

Greetings

Bernd
