Dear Bernd

I was just reading your last posting when it disappeared!

Either you're using "invisible ink" or my computer is playing up again!

You wrote about "Preview" "Insert" ?

I still do not understand how to post a proper full size picture. Please write "step by step" (as I do not know what to do).  As Senor Wences's little rag doll puppet replied when Senor Wences told her sternly that a task was "very difficult" she said - "Deefeecult For You-Easy For Me"

Step 1 (Open the edit window): Take your last posting with thumbnails (the one with the headline "RE: Silvia ..Mature beauty - test picture"), left-click on the button "More" in the right upper corner and a menu will open. Choose "Edit Post" there (with a click on your left mouse button, of course). You will get an edit window now, containing the text of the message like you entered it some days ago. Below the edit window is a button "Attach Images", and below this button the names of the already uploaded pictures, in your case something like
SILVIA.XMAS2011.jpg                [remove] [insert]
SilviaCheersFirweorksXat.jpg    [remove] [insert]

Step 2 (Include the image as full size): Put your cursor in the edit window on the place where you want the full size picture to appear. Then, if you want to include e.g. SilviaCheersFirweorksXat.jpg, left-click in the line
SilviaCheersFirweorksXat.jpg    [remove] [insert]
on [insert]. A new message window will open, confirm there with a left-click on "OK". Within one second the full size picture will appear in your edit window.

Step 3: (Remove the additional old thumbnail from your message) Left-click on [remove] in the line
SilviaCheersFirweorksXat.jpg    [remove] [insert]
A new message window will open, confirm there with a left-click on "OK".

Step 4: (Save) (If you want to preview the whole message you can left-click on the "Show Preview" button, but this is not mandatory.) Save your message by left-clicking on "Submit Post".

If this does not work for you like it works for me, then you should try a browser different from Internet Explorer. I would recommend Seamonkey.

Dear Bernd,

I am afraid that my previous posting with the two Thumbnails has "disappeared" from my screen. Obviously, I am having some computer gremlins at the moment.

Since I cannot try to edit the posting (since I can no longer see it!), can I instead ask you these two questions:

1) You suggested editing my (missing) post. But if I edit it, it will leave an entry at the end mentioning that the post has been edited.

2) Can I post a full size picture in the first instance or not? Must I have Thumbnails first and then be forced to "edit" them? Thanks, Vic.

PS. If I could post large pictures to the Forum directly, this would be good but presumably they are afflicted by the "expires" entry that you noticed in the forum's address. It's a pity that Martin cannot help us on this matter.

PPS. Something is radically wrong with my computer because now I cannot see the Forum's "formatting" bar (bold, italic, underline, etc). Also, in the "Preview" window, all the text is scrunched up together not spaced out as usual.

[since edited to correct layout after disabling an antivirus setting  - and the missing postings are now back again! - but the opening pictures remain missing as first reported]

1) I do not know how to suppress the last edit date, you only can delete the older ones in case you edited several times.

2) Yes, you can without submitting the message with thumbnails first. But the beginning of the upload process is the same, you always have to attach the pictures first. Only when they are attached the "insert" link appears.

PS: The "Expires" in the link to the full size file occurs only if you use thumbnails. If you include the picture directly, you get an address like http://saint-archives.activeboard.com/download.spark?ID=1207438&aBID=9318
But of course the missing "Expires" does not promise that the file will stay forever. Nevertheless, it seems to me that most of the old pictures in the forum are still available.

Thanks Bernd for your kind patience with my computer queries.

I will try to post direct large-size pictures. If this works, I will ask Martin if that will suffice - this would then mean I may not have to subscribe to a separate storage site failing which are my wallpapers are likely to disappear next October.

I notice that the Forum accepts pictures up to 9Mb  - mine are only about 190Kb, which means about 40 wallpapers.  So, for the space of say 5 pictures,  I could post 200 wallpapers!  (this is about as many as I have made in all).

It's late now. I will try tomorrow night.  Thanks again.

Dear Bernd,

I still cannot see 90% of the pictures in this topic?

I am going to try to post the wallpaper of Silvia in full size.

That seems to have worked!

But will these wallpapers survive forever or at least as long as the entire Forum continues to exisit?

I will write to Martin to enquire.

Thanks for all your patient help.

Addendum: It worked but the thumbnail is showing as well but if I try to edit it out, it does not show up in the edit panel.  Below, I am going to try to "copy" the wallpaper into this message.

SilviaXmas.jpg

I wonder if this brings in the thumbnail as well?

If not, then I could insert all my wallpapers into new topic and then "copy" from there into where I need the wallpapers to display.

Further Note:  That seemed to work without bringing in another second thumbnail.

Katsumi and Silvia.200502.enlarged.jpg

Thanks, Bernd.  I am now going to test this again trying to remove the Thumbnail which appears when I am trying to post the large picture for display (without double-clicking)...

Result:  I am afraid that this does not work for me.  I cannot find the Thumbnail to "remove" either before or after my posting has been completed!   Even in the "Edit" window (after the initial posting has been completed), the Thumbnail is not shown as being there!

I think that my best option in trying to link my wallpapers to the Forum permanently (instead of using external storage paysites as the existing situation which will expire unless someone keeps on paying the fees) is to post my stuff to a "storage" topic within this Forum and then "copy and paste" from that (ignoring the Thumbnail).  Possibly, one the picture is uploaded, then after I could remove the initfial storage topic?  Thank you for your help. I am doing this so that in future years when I am not about, the Memorial Forum and some of Silvia's topics (Fira's wallpapers) will not have hundreds of blank spaces and looked like a neglected site.

Hopefully, the pictures stored directly onto the Forum will remain as long as the Forum does  - however, I remember that about 10 years ago, "Yahoo Groups" was stripped of all photos overnight! (presumably by Yahoo themselves).

Finally, I am still interested in asking other members how many of them can actually see the pictures which start off this topic (posted by the creator of this topic)?  I see nothing but lots of blank spaces!

I have no problem in removing the thumbnails. I just removed one in my posting of October 29th on page 1 of this thread. Simply use step 3 of my posting from November 4th.

Greetings

Bernd

Hello Victorandss, on page no. 1 of this thread, I can see all pics as were intended with the exception of your (SECOND) post where you attempted to use "TurboImageHost". And I can see the thumbnails (they work) in your (FOURTH) post!

Pictures?

Dear Sf,

It's a mystery.  From the first picture that Budgie posted, nothing displays!  All I see is a small box with a red cross inside it.  If I right-click and then left-click "Show picture", it makes no diffrence at all.

What's wrong, I wonder.

SUGGESTED TEST:  As you can see Budgie's first picture (which I cannot), can you please try a test?  Please right-click the first picture of Budgie's in this topic and then left-click on "Copy" and then "paste" that into a new topic.  Let's see what happens? If that works, then I could insert the new picture back into Budgie's first posting and see if it still displays in full size or at all.

Hello Victorandss; the test you asked me to try will not work (as I suspected), sorry about that!

I cannot find "the Thumbnail" either. What I find is the text line described in Step 3 above. I wrote there (maybe with a colon missing):

Step 3: (Remove the additional old thumbnail from your message):

Left-click on [remove] in the line
SilviaCheersFirweorksXat.jpg    [remove] [insert]
A new message window will open, confirm there with a left-click on "OK".

Thanks Sf,

Presently, can you actually still see displayed in full size (without clicking on any options) all the first pictures of Budgie?

If so, I would have thought that these could be copied  - but it seems not?

Why can't I see them, I wonder?

Dear Budgie,

Did you do something - at last, all your photos are showing on my screen.

What was the problem, I wonder?  This is the first time that the photos have all displayed for me!

Regards, Vic.

No, I cannot repeat. All I know is written above in Step 3. Click on [remove] in the respective line and confirm the removal of the thumbnail. If you cannot see the line

SilviaXmas.jpg       [remove] [insert]

in your posting then you have to change your browser. Compare your edit window with what I see when I try to edit your posting:

temp.jpg

By the way, it is Chris Daneffel's photo on Lea's tombstone. Does he already know?

Greetings

Bernd

Dear Bernd,

Since the Forum was altered, I cannot seem to repeat the posting up of a photo in full size by using "Attach Image".

Is this still possible please?

Yes, for me it seems to be possible. If it does not work for you then try a different browser.

Greetings

Bernd

Dear Bernd,

I see that Adam posted a lot of pictures showing Lea's memorial stone with three carvings (I think).  Please see in:

http://39098.activeboard.com/t4719326/dablice-cemetery/

In Adam's posting of large pictures, the "thumbnails" are showing at the end of the posting.

But in your posting above, you don't have the "thumbnail".

I would like to try again. You know that I wish to post up all my old wallpapers directly into the Forum rather than depend on an outsiide paysite which will only last as long as you keep paying.

I think that the Forum will perhaps retain the pictures forever.

Please could you just repeat the instructions on how to post up a wallpaper/picture (from your hard drive) so that it displays full size on the Forum preferably without the "thumbnail" showing?

Thanks!
